Position : Database Architect

Will report to the Sr director of Engineering

Reportees:

Sr. Oracle developers, Oracle developers & Jr. Oracle developers may be identified as necessary to achieve the department’s objectives.

Responsibilities:

The Database Architect will be accountable for the following but not limited to:

  1. The Database Architect maintains the data architecture and its components to ensure that it supports the overall reporting architecture and meets the overall functionality, system scalability and performance requirements
  2. Data warehouses / OLAP
    • Long year experience with Database sizes 1TB+
    • “Architected data warehouse”
    • “Designed Data Marts”
    • “Rearchitected Data model to allow for xyz”
    • Design of Materialised views, cubes, etc
  3. Develop metadata standards for all data components, data models and business rules.
  4. Work closely with QA, Development and Database team.
  5. Work closely with Database team for data modelling and query optimisation.
  6. Data migration from other databases to Oracle (Co-ordinate with the Database team).
  7. ETL / Replication
    • “Designed/Architected ETL processes”
    • “Designed/Architected Replication“
  8. Performance tuning, query optimisation and benchmarking for PL/SQL applications.
  9. Be in touch with latest Oracle technologies

Qualification & Experience:

Essential:
  1. UG - B.Sc - Any Specialization;B.Tech/B.E. - Any Specialization;BCA - Computers
  2. Preferred: PG - M.Sc - Any Specialization;M.Tech - Any Specialization;MCA - Computers
  3. 12 years of development experience in SQL and PL/SQL on complex and large databases
  4. Strong experience in Oracle is required and Oracle certifications desired
  5. Knowledge in databases like Postgres, mysql or MS Access is also desirable
  6. Solid background in UNIX, ideally Solaris
  7. Excellent communication skills and team player
  8. Experience in product development involving large databases
  9. Good knowledge in product development methodologies and processes
  10. Knowledge in UNIX environment and shell scripting would be an added advantage

Desirable:

Experience in Banking or Telco or Retail background or data technology suppliers to Banking or Telco or Retail sectors
