New Media Age, March 2003 - The four major mobile network operators have pledged to increase donations to Red Nose Day 2003 from premium rate SMS activity. Orange, O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone will be donating all their profits from premium rate text messages sent as part of the Red Nose Day campaign. Such activity includes competitions from Red Nose Day sponsors and shows, and voting and text alerts on Comic Relief Celebrity Fame Academy. Entry to the competition costs the public £1 plus the usual text charge, with at least 70p going to Comic Relief. Alerts will cost the public 25p a message, of which at least 15p will go to Comic Relief.Wireless marketing company Flytxt is providing the SMS fundraising service for the campaign and is managing the IT infrastructure and the connectivity to UK mobile operators. Comic Relief and Flytxt worked together on Sport Relief last year, the first time a UK charity had used SMS as part of its fundraising. Entries into Sport Relief text and phone competitions raised £220,000, half of which came from SMS. BT Click & Buy has also joined Red Nose Day fundraising by facilitating online voting for Comic Relief Celebrity Fame Academy. © Copyright Flytxt Ltd 2006.
