Education Places For Alert Students
Monday, 01 August 2005

160 characters - The Guardian newspaper is offering UK students free SMS and email alerts for matching university places. The service will update students on available clearing places during the crucial post A-level results period.

In conjunction with education publishing company, Trotman Information Services who will prvide the data on courses, Flytxt will send out text messages to students keen to know about clearing options available to them.

On The Guardian website, students enter their name, email address, mobile number and select three preferred courses and institutions. If no matches are found a message will be sent out suggesting they search for more options.

The alerts will start on 18th August - the first day of what is known as Clearing.

Students who sign up to the service will also be entered into a prize draw to win £1,000
