Yahoo! Mobile uses Flytxt to cross-sell targeted content
Thursday, 10 February 2005

New Media Age - Yahoo! Mobile has appointed mobile marketing company Flytxt to implement a cross-selling initiative for mobile content.
The move will enable Yahoo! to extract the most value out of consumers buying mobile content by up-selling subscriptions and cross-selling different types of content.

Such cross-selling remains rare in the mobile sector, meaning content providers could be missing out on lucrative additional revenue streams.

"Not to do this is really leaving money on the table," said Flytxt director Pamir Gelenbe.

Yahoo! will use the Flytxt Direct platform. This sends a WAP Push message promoting content within three minutes of a consumer making a purchase. The platform uses information, such as the recipient's demographics stored in the database and purchase history, to personalise the offer.

"If a consumer has bought a ringtone from a certain artist, it's reasonable to assume they'd be interested in wallpaper of that artist," said Pamir Gelenbe.
