Chrysalis Radio today announced that it has been attracting over 10,000 new subscribers to its popular mobile databases each month since the launch of its new station text system in early May. The network also announced that it is launching a raft
of summer promotions involving SMS, across the group’s Heart and Galaxy
branded stations.
Chrysalis has teamed up with brands such as Wella Shockwaves, Mazda and Odeon for their on-air promotions and database activities, messages from the stations are sponsored by the brands as part of their radio advertising packages.
The summer promotions are as follows:
The Bon Jovi Competition: 100.7 Heart listeners text in a keyword to a short-code for a chance to win two tickets to a Bon Jovi concert and meet the band! Heart listeners are also invited participants to subscribe to the Heart Text Club for further exclusive club offers.
The Dilemma promotion: Galaxy 102 DJs discuss with its listeners difficult situations that they are in and pose a question based on their story. Listeners are encouraged to vote on what the person with the problem should do. The bounce-back message that the listeners receives in response to their vote, encourages them to tune back in later to find out what the results is – and those that do vote can win £500.
The Odeon cinema ticket competition: Galaxy 105 listeners can win free Odeon cinema tickets by texting a keyword to a short-code and the first 25,000 people to text in get a unique code to redeem their ticket at Odeon.
The Ibiza promotion: DJs promote on air a ‘text to enter’ mechanic to get the chance of winning a holiday to Ibiza! This promotion is in partnership with Wella/Shockwaves. When the DJ announces the promotion on air, listeners text in a keyword and receive a unique code in response. There are new unique codes every day, so listeners are encouraged to text in every day as many times as they can to ‘collect’ potentially winning codes. Listeners who take part but who are not already a Text Maniac are invited to join the club. Both new and existing subscribers are offered the opportunity to sign up for Wella/Shockwaves information.
Since its launch in 2001, Chrysalis Radio Interactive has proven that wireless communication has become an effective marketing and revenue-generating tool, resulting in an increased focus on its marketing efforts in this medium. Flytxt, a relative veteran in the interactive broadcast space, brings to Chrysalis over two years of experience and expertise at designing and implementing wireless loyalty marketing programmes.
Chrysalis enlisted Flytxt earlier this year, to bring its’ expertise from the interactive broadcast sector, and to grow the existing SMS databases by 150% over the coming year. The summer promotions are contributing to that growth.
Since launching the ‘Heart Texters’ club in November 2002, the SMS database spanning London’s Heart 106.2 and 100.7 Heart FM in the West Midlands now exceeds 15,000 registered users. The Galaxy Network ‘Text Maniac’ club has registered over 50,000 listener mobile numbers. Chrysalis Radio, together with Flytxt, aims to grow these databases via loyalty building and viral promotions, whilst ramping-up the wireless marketing activity.
