Chrysalis Radio chooses Flytxt to run its text maniacs club
Wednesday, 20 June 2001

Chrysalis Radio, one of the UK's leading radio groups, today announced that it is running its first interactive text message campaign with the launch of the Galaxy 105 Text Maniacs Club. Working with Flytxt, Galaxy 105 - Chrysalis Radio's Yorkshire station - is running its first text message campaign in a move to build an interactive dialogue with its listeners. The Text Maniacs Club will offer listeners the chance to receive special offers and promotions as well as news on Galaxy 105 itself. Flytxt has been running the campaign successfully since the beginning of June and is planning to roll it out across the rest of the Galaxy Network over the coming months.

Flytxt is working with Chrysalis Radio to design, execute and manage the technology behind the campaign which will give Galaxy 105's listeners the option to subscribe to the Text Maniacs Club and the chance to win a free annual cinema pass. Subscribers will also be guaranteed special offers from Galaxy approved partners and get to hear about all the goings-on at Galaxy 105 before anyone else. A series of trailers have been running throughout June asking listeners to join the club by sending in an SMS with their postcode.

Lars Becker, CEO and co-founder of Flytxt, said: "This is a significant win for us in the broadcast industry and it is the first time a radio station has run a text message campaign with this level of interactivity. A wireless data 'over the air' communication channel such as text messaging is a great way to enhance the existing radio broadcasting channel. Text messaging is as instant and universal as radio, but allows for a more personalised and targeted communication. It also introduces an element of interactivity. SMS will have a significant impact on the radio of the future. We are delighted to work with Chrysalis to explore this new world of interactive broadcasting."

Chrysalis Radio is the latest in a long line of customer wins for Flytxt, one of the leading wireless marketing companies in the UK and Germany. The company has run wireless marketing campaigns for Channel 5, Emap Performance Network, Momentum Pictures and Deutsche Bank. Flytxt also recently announced that it would be running the largest wireless marketing campaign to date with Cadbury's which will involve a 'Text and Win' competition on 65 million chocolate bars.
