Britart.com have chosen wireless specialist Flytxt to handle the SMS integration. Britart.com, the centre for affordable, well-known British art is taking over Selfridges' window displays in Oxford Street, Trafford Centre and Exchange Square, central Manchester and giving passers by the 'one-off' opportunity to bid via their mobile phone for their favourite piece of original art. The public are invited to take part in the first ever SMS art auction, which runs from March 28th for two weeks, by texting in their bid to a number displayed in the shop windows. Advertising agency Mother conceived the partnership between britart and Selfridges and devised the promotion. Interactive creative agency Poke is handling the campaign's creative elements. They have chosen wireless specialist Flytxt to handle the SMS integration. When a text bid for a piece of art has been made the bidder will receive a text message confirming that their bid has been received and directing them to britart.com to register and validate their bid. Bidders then register their credit card details along with the mobile number of the phone they used to bid. If they are outbid after registering the system automatically alerts them via SMS and gives them the opportunity to bid again. Each window display will have a dotmatrix sign showing current bidding prices keeping the general public passing by Selfridges up to date with the auction. Nick Farnhill, Partner at interactive creative agency Poke commented: "Mother came to us with the seed of a great idea. We wanted to work with that and create something truly challenging and original - we wanted to build on the britart philosophy, Selfridges reputation for innovation and Mother's innate creativity to devise a promotion for britart that is truly unique." Carsten Boers, Director of Client Services at Flytxt commented: "We are delighted that Mother and Poke have chosen Flytxt as the SMS partner in delivering this innovative promotion. The immediacy and impulsiveness of SMS make it the perfect medium for auctioning". © Copyright Flytxt Ltd 2006. Unauthorized use of any content constitutes a material breach. |
