Flytxt adds breadth and depth to management for next stage growth plan
Monday, 22 November 2004

New management line up adds David Payne, Nick Fuller and Craig Patton. Carsten Boers, Chief Executive of Flytxt, today announced a number of significant additional senior appointments to his management team.  Boers who returned from Flytxt US to head the company in March 2004 has appointed David Payne as Executive Chairman, Nick Fuller as Operations Director and Craig Patton as Head of Business Development.

Payne, who will combine the Flytxt Executive Chairmanship with his Direct Marketing Industry role as Head of DM at the IPA, is a key figure in the current battle to raise the best practice standards through the IPA Charter.  Payne is an experienced commercial operator having built his own agency to be one of the largest independents and then sold to Omnicom in the late nineties.

Payne commented: “Flytxt is the leading player in mobile marketing across the US and Europe and has won numerous awards this year for its Orange Wednesday mobile couponing programme and is well respected for its inventive solutions for mobile. The mobile channel is now taking off as a marketing communications medium and also as a means for commerce - M brochures lead to M Transactions. I’m confident that, with the flair of the co-founders plus the new senior additions, Flytxt will be the leading solutions provider in this sector in the same way it has pioneered promotion and reward.”

Nick Fuller is equally well regarded in DM.  As a Fellow of the Institute of Direct Marketing (F IDM) he has experience across agency, client and service supplier sectors (including spells with TSB and a number of senior positions with Experian) over the last 20 years.  Having been one of the pioneers of e-mail marketing with PDV, he commented: ‘I joined Flytxt because I believe that mobile is the next great DM medium and that Flytxt is the company to realise that potential.  The extraordinary power of mobile lies in its immediacy, personal reach and ability to deliver on the power of permission marketing.  Flytxt has always been at the forefront of the medium but now, with our vast experience, scalability, expertise in the merging technologies (e.g. WAP, Java etc) and international presence, we are in prime position to support clients in realising the tremendous potential of the medium going forward.’

New Head of Business Development, Craig Patton brings over ten years of business development experience.  He joins the business from AGENCY.COM, and Omnicom Company.  In his new role, Patton is charged with heading up the growing business development efforts at Flytxt, where he is responsible for revenues from new and existing clients.  Patton’s experience as seasoned sales professional will drive Flytxt to capitalise on existing growth opportunities in the market by growing its existing business development team and managing the sophisticated demands of Flytxt’s clients.

Craig Patton said: “With a superb portfolio of blue-chip brands - all of whom are pioneering the use of the mobile channel as a means of communicating with, and servicing their customers - Flytxt presents a fantastic opportunity for the team to work with brands to deliver truly unique, inventive solutions that achieve clients’ marketing and business objectives.”

Carsten Boers added: “"To have attracted these top industry players is a real coup for Flytxt. We've already had a great year - being ranked 12th in the Sunday Times Tech Track and winning three awards for Orange Wednesdays. Mobile is taking off as a marketing communications medium and commerce channel and with the growth that we see it’s the perfect time to strengthen our team with these top people."
