Flytxt jumps into the movie sector with a summer release Momentum Pictures becomes the first film company to market a movie with interactive text messaging. Flytxt, the wireless marketing specialist has signed its
first customer in the movie industry - UK distributor Momentum
Pictures. Flytxt is providing the technology and managing the text
message marketing campaign to promote this summer's teen movie - 'Get
Over It'. Enabled by Flytxt, and working alongside media agency Target
NMI, Momentum Pictures will launch their first interactive wireless
campaign, alongside traditional marketing media, that aims to build a
dialogue with its teenage audience.
The SMS campaign is being launched in teen magazine Sugar on April 27th and followed up in Bliss and J-17 - targeting the core female teenage market. This will culminate with a poster advertising campaign in cinemas and shopping centres in the last week of May. Over a six-week pre-release campaign prior to the launch on June 8, Momentum Pictures will create a buzz around the movie using viral and interactive text messaging.
'Get Over It' is a smart new teen comedy starring Kirsten Dunst (Spiderman, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Virgin Suicides), multi-platinum recording artist Sisqo, Ben Foster (Liberty Heights). The target female teenage market will be invited to send in their best 'dumping' lines over SMS, hear unreleased singles from the soundtrack and win items out of the movie such as a bikini, similar to that worn by the movie's female lead - Kirsten Dunst. Teenagers will also be able to subscribe to a club that will provide them with all the latest news and gossip on the movie.
Pamir Gelenbe, Co-founder and VP of Business Development of Flytxt commented:
"This is another significant customer win for Flytxt. It is the first time that a movie is promoted through text messaging and we expect to create a great buzz around the launch. When it comes to marketing to a teenage audience you can't beat text messaging as a medium. We are delighted to work with a progressive company like Momentum Pictures to break into this new arena. Flytxt is again pushing the boundaries of what text messaging can be used for in a marketing context." |
